Pune, June 10, 2024: The prestigious Defence Services Technical Staff Course (DSTSC), aimed at grooming mid-career officers from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Indian Coast Guard, and friendly foreign countries into future techno-warriors and military leaders, commenced today at the Military Institute of Technology (MILIT), Pune.

A total of 166 officers, including participants from the tri-services and the Indian Coast Guard, along with five officers from friendly foreign nations, are partaking in this comprehensive course. Designed to foster jointness and synergy among services, the DSTSC will equip officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in multi-domain operations.

In his inaugural address, MILIT Commandant AVM Vivek Blouria emphasized the significance of jointness and understanding the unique capabilities of each service for effective warfighting in contemporary scenarios. He stressed the importance of staying abreast of emerging technologies and geopolitical developments, empowering future leaders to make informed decisions and contribute to military strategies effectively.

Throughout the course, officers will be exposed to various emerging technologies, defence strategies, live drills, seminars, and collaborative projects. Visits to forward areas, defence R&D establishments, and industrial corridors will further enhance their understanding of national security strategy and tactical operations, as well as efforts towards self-reliance in military technologies.

In a pioneering move towards jointness, MILIT has formed Joint Divisions comprising officers from the tri-services. These divisions, facilitated by newly formed Tri-Services Joint Training Teams, aim to foster seamless coordination and integration essential for multi-domain operations, thereby instilling a joint culture among future military leaders.
