The Indian government has taken a significant step towards bolstering its semiconductor industry by approving a new semiconductor plant in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that the plant will produce display driver chips, which are crucial for controlling the quality and format of content displayed on screens. The facility is projected to handle 20,000 wafers per month, resulting in an output of approximately 36 million chips monthly. This production capacity is anticipated to meet 40% of India’s demand for such components.
