ENC bids adieu to Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta on Superannuation

Eastern Naval Command (ENC) bid farewell to Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta PVSM AVSM YSM VSM Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) ENC on his retirement July 31 23 in an impressive ceremonial parade held at Visakhapatnam Naval Base. The admiral inspected the Ceremonial Guard and surveyed the command’s Naval and DSC personnel platoons. The ceremony was attended by all the Flag Officers and the Commanding Officers of ships, submarines and establishments. This was followed by the traditional ‘Pulling Out’ ceremony.

Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta has retired from naval service following more than thirty-eight years of distinguished service to the nation and navy. During his 20-month tenure at the helm of the ENC, the Command witnessed a high operational pace with ships, submarines and aircraft deployed from the eastern Pacific to the east coast of Africa. Additionally, ENC carried out crucial HADR operations such as evacuating stranded Indian nationals from Sudan during Op Kaveri and providing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) to Myanmar after Cyclone Mocha as part of Op Karuna. The Command also successfully conducted major flagship events such as International Multilateral Maritime Exercise – MILAN 2022, President’s Fleet Review 22 and Navy Day Op Demo 2022 which was attended by the Honorable President of India. He proactively led a number of infrastructure projects to improve the overall quality of life in Naval Command Eastern. His tenure also saw the establishment of the Sea Harrier Museum in Visakhapatnam and the TU Museum in Kolkata.
