Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Participates in Fit India Sundays with Teachers in Delhi on World Teachers’ Day
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, spearheaded the 43rd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle this morning at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, coinciding with World Teachers’ Day. The event was part of a nationwide initiative that unfolded simultaneously at over 10,500 locations across the country, promoting fitness and well-being among citizens. With more than 1,000 participants, including educators, athletes, and fitness enthusiasts, the event highlighted the importance of physical activity in daily life.
Celebrating Fitness and Education
The Fit India Sundays on Cycle event attracted a diverse group of participants, including notable athletes such as Olympic medalist Abhishek Nain, chess champion Tania Sachdev, and javelin star Sachin Yadav. The gathering also featured Rohtash Chaudhary, known as India’s “Push-up Man,” who engaged attendees with his fitness demonstrations. The event was not just about cycling; it included a vibrant nukkad natak (street play) dedicated to teachers, yoga sessions, skipping, and various fitness games designed to engage children and families. This multifaceted approach aimed to inspire a culture of health and fitness among all age groups.
A Nationwide Movement
Dr. Mandaviya addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the Fit India initiative is a significant movement that encourages citizens to prioritize their health. He stated, “Through this movement, lakhs of citizens across more than 10,500 locations are pedaling every Sunday to keep themselves fit.” He underscored the importance of balance in life, drawing a parallel between cycling and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The minister encouraged every citizen to dedicate at least an hour to physical activity, asserting that such efforts would contribute to a stronger and healthier India.
Collaborative Efforts and Future Goals
The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in partnership with the Cycling Federation of India, Yogasana Bharat, and MY Bharat. It has emerged as one of India’s most impactful fitness campaigns. During the event, the official anthem for Fit India Sundays on Cycle was launched, further solidifying the initiative’s cultural significance. Additionally, Rohtash Chaudhary announced his upcoming attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the most push-ups in one hour while carrying a 60 lb pack, scheduled for November 2, 2025, at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Athletes shared their enthusiasm for the initiative, with Abhishek Nain expressing pride in witnessing a growing culture of health in India. He remarked, “As athletes, fitness is our foundation. Following 43 editions, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative has engaged over 12 lakh individuals across more than 1,00,000 locations nationwide, demonstrating its widespread impact and commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle for all.
