DoPPW to Hold Awareness Programs for Bankers and Pensioners in Ahmedabad on September 13, 2025

In a significant move to enhance the quality of life for pensioners, the Department of Pension & Pensionersโ Welfare (DoPPW) is set to host two important programs on September 13, 2025, in Ahmedabad. These initiatives, directed by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, PG & Pensions, will include a Bankersโ Awareness Workshop aimed at officers from Punjab National Bank (PNB) and a Pensionersโ Awareness Program for retirees from Ahmedabad and surrounding areas. Both events will be chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary (P&PW), as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve the “Ease of Living” for pensioners.
Focus on Awareness and Education
The upcoming programs in Ahmedabad will feature a variety of informative sessions designed to educate participants about essential pension-related topics. Key areas of discussion will include the Pensionersโ Portal, CCS Pension Rules, Family Pension, Commutation, and the CPENGRAMS grievance redressal system. Additionally, the programs will address the generation of Digital Life Certificates and services available for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) pensioners. A special emphasis will be placed on Cyber Security and Digital Literacy, ensuring that attendees are well-equipped to navigate the digital landscape safely. Subject matter experts will be present to guide participants through these crucial topics.
Integration of Pension Services
The DoPPW has been proactive in reforming pension policies and digitizing processes to streamline services for pensioners. A notable achievement has been the integration of pension portals from nine major banks, including PNB, SBI, and Bank of Baroda. This integration allows pensioners to access services through a single, user-friendly portal. Recognizing the vital role banks play as Pension Disbursing Authorities, the DoPPW has implemented structured Awareness Workshops for Central Pension Processing Centers (CPPCs) and field staff. These workshops aim to ensure that personnel are well-informed about the latest rules and procedures, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of pension disbursement.
Engagement with Stakeholders
The Ahmedabad programs are expected to attract over 250 pensioners and around 80 bank officers, fostering a collaborative environment for discussion and feedback. Senior dignitaries, including Shri Pradeep Kumar from Western Railway, Shri Dhrubajyoti Sengupta from DoPPW, Dr. Rajesh Prasad from PNB, and Shri Unnikrishnan from CGPA, will address the participants. These interactions are designed to raise awareness, minimize grievances, and gather valuable insights for future digital initiatives. The government is committed to empowering pensioners by streamlining processes and ensuring responsive, transparent service delivery.
Commitment to Pensioners
The initiatives being launched in Ahmedabad reflect the Government of Indiaโs dedication to improving the lives of pensioners. By organizing these awareness programs, the DoPPW aims to provide essential information and support to retirees, helping them navigate the complexities of pension services. The focus on digital literacy and cybersecurity further underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that pensioners can access their benefits safely and efficiently. As these programs unfold, they promise to enhance the overall experience of pensioners, aligning with the broader goal of improving the “Ease of Living” for this vital segment of society.
