Dhadak 2 Finally Sets Release Date Following CBFC Approval, Says Siddhant

A day after celebrating his 53rd birthday, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar announced the release date for his upcoming production, Dhadak 2. The film, featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in lead roles, is set to premiere in theaters on August 1, 2025. Alongside this announcement, two emotionally charged posters were revealed, hinting at the film’s intense narrative and thematic depth.

Emotional Posters Reveal Intense Narrative

The recently unveiled posters for *Dhadak 2* showcase Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri in a poignant embrace, framed against a moody blue backdrop. The tagline, โ€œMarne aur ladne mein se ek ko chunna hoโ€ฆ to ladna,โ€ translates to โ€œIf you have to choose between dying and fightingโ€ฆ choose to fight.โ€ This powerful message suggests that the film will explore themes of resistance and resilience, setting it apart from its predecessor. The raw emotion captured in the visuals indicates a significant tonal shift, promising a more profound exploration of the characters’ struggles.

CBFC Challenges Overcome

Earlier this year, *Dhadak 2* faced hurdles at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to its sensitive subject matter, which addresses caste oppression. Reports indicate that the film has now received a U/A 16+ rating after undergoing substantial edits. Several dialogues were revised to remove references to caste history and discrimination, including the alteration of phrases deemed inappropriate. Additionally, a scene depicting public urination was cut, and a sequence involving the humiliation of a character’s father was shortened. The CBFC also mandated changes to a poem recital and required a revised disclaimer, which now lasts 1 minute and 51 seconds and must be read aloud during the film.

Film Background and Runtime

*Dhadak 2* is a Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed 2018 Tamil film *Pariyerum Perumal*, directed by Mari Selvaraj. This remake marks the directorial debut of Shazia Iqbal, who aims to highlight caste-based social injustices through the film’s narrative. With a runtime of 2 hours and 26 minutes, *Dhadak 2* seeks to shift focus from the romantic themes of the original *Dhadak* (2018) to more pressing social issues. The film is produced by Dharma Productions in collaboration with Zee Studios and Cloud 9 Pictures, promising a compelling cinematic experience that resonates with contemporary societal challenges.
