The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted approval in principle to Air India Ltd. and Interglobe Aviation Ltd (Indigo) to import 470 and 500 aircraft respectively. Details of the aircraft cleared for import by the DGCA are attached in the Annex. No information is available regarding the purchase cost of these aircraft, as they are commercial in nature between the airline and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

The availability of parking spaces is ensured at the time of granting the NOC for the effective importation of aircraft. According to the airlines’ induction plan, the aircraft are proposed to be imported in the period 2023-2035. The aircraft operators have been invited by the DGCA to share their induction plan with the airport operators to ensure the availability of parking spaces.

This information was provided by the Minister of State at the Ministry of Civil Aviation Gen. (Dr) VK Singh (Retd) in a written response to a query to the Rajya Sabha today.
