Delhi Air Cargo (Exports) Customs incinerates over 69 kg drugs in fight
The Air Cargo (Exports) Customs, Delhi today destroyed 69,876 kg of NDPS 1985 medicines at the centralized biomedical waste processing facility operated by SMS Watergrace BMW Pvt Ltd.
The destruction of contrabands is a major blow for smugglers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS). The contrabands were incinerated in two batches.
First, contraband seized at the new courier terminal in 09 boxes totaling 13,346kg, including 1,997kg of heroin, 4,236kg of ganja, 7,113kg of ketamine and other NDPS goods, were destroyed.
Contrabands seized at the overseas post office in 23 cases, including 4,350kg of ganja and 52,180kg of ketamine, methamphetamine and other NDPS goods, were destroyed in the second and final batch.
69,876 kg of drugs in 32 cases (5 cases of heroin, 4 cases of ganja, 23 cases of other NDPS products) were destroyed by incineration under Hazardous Waste and Other Waste (M&TM) Rules, 2016 at Centralized Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Centre, Nilothi, Delhi. It is a State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) licensed facility.
