Defence Minister of Vietnam calls on the President

The Defense Minister of Vietnam, General Phan Van Giang, today invited the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu to Rashtrapati Bhavan (June 19, 2023).

Welcoming General Giang and his delegation to India, the president said that India and Vietnam share a rich history of civilizational and cultural ties spanning more than 2,000 years. He added that Vietnam is an important pillar of the India Act East policy and a key partner of our Indo-Pacific vision. He noted that the India-Vietnam “comprehensive strategic partnership” has broadened the range of bilateral collaboration, including in cooperation on defense and security, trade and investment relations, energy security, development cooperation, cultural and people-to-people relations. He said that bilateral defense cooperation is one of the strongest elements of this partnership. She was happy to note that the defense engagement between India and Vietnam spans a broad spectrum, including capacity building, industrial cooperation, peacekeeping and joint exercises.
