Crores of Devotees take the holy Dip at Sangam during the second Amrit Snan

On the auspicious occasion of Mauni Amavasya, the second Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025 took place today at the sacred Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. This event attracted millions of devotees, both from India and abroad, who gathered to partake in this significant ritual. The Mahakumbh is not merely a religious event; it stands as a testament to faith, unity, and cultural diversity. The gathering at Triveni Sangam showcased India’s rich heritage and the spirit of togetherness among people from various backgrounds.

A Historic Shift in Tradition

This year marked a significant change in the traditional practices surrounding the Amrit Snan. For the first time, the Saints, Naga Sannyasis, and Akhadas allowed devotees to take the first dip in the holy waters before them. Mahant Ravindra Puri, the president of the Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad, explained that this decision was made unanimously. The Akhadas postponed their Brahma Muhurat Amrit Snan to prioritize the safety and participation of the devotees. This shift in tradition reflects the evolving nature of the Mahakumbh, emphasizing inclusivity and community spirit.

The decision to allow devotees to take the first dip was made in light of the current circumstances, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being of all participants. Once the situation normalized, the Akhadas followed their traditional practices symbolically. This change not only highlights the adaptability of the event but also reinforces the importance of community and collective faith during challenging times.

Spiritual Leaders and Their Blessings

On this significant day, the Shankaracharyas from three prominent Peeths in India also participated in the Amrit Snan. Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Vidhu Shekhar Bharti Ji of Shringeri Sharada Peeth, Swami Sadanand Saraswati Ji of Dwarka Sharada Peeth, and Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Ji of Jyotish Peeth took their holy dip at Triveni Sangam. They performed the rituals with great reverence and offered blessings for the welfare of the nation.

The presence of these spiritual leaders added a profound sense of sanctity to the event. They urged devotees to maintain restraint and focus on the spiritual significance of the occasion. Their participation not only reinforced the religious importance of the Mahakumbh but also served as a reminder of the values of humility and devotion that underpin this grand celebration.

Ensuring Safety and Cleanliness

The Kumbh Mela administration made extensive arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Amrit Snan. Unprecedented security measures were implemented throughout the Mela area. Both state police and central paramilitary forces were deployed in large numbers to maintain order and safety. The administration took all necessary precautions to protect the devotees and ensure a peaceful environment for the rituals.

In addition to security, the cleanliness of the sacred rivers was a top priority. Ganga Seva Doots were stationed along the ghats to maintain the purity of the Ganga and Yamuna. They promptly removed flowers and other offerings from the water, ensuring that the rivers remained clean. The collaborative efforts of local administration, police, sanitation workers, volunteers, and various government departments played a crucial role in the successful organization of the event.

A Global Celebration of Indian Culture

The Mahakumbh 2025 has also emerged as a platform for promoting India’s cultural heritage on the global stage. The Kumbh Mela administration made significant efforts to ensure the event’s safety and success. Foreign devotees visiting the Mahakumbh were deeply impressed by Indian culture. Alongside their holy dip in the Ganga, they experienced the rich tapestry of India’s religious and cultural traditions.

The Mahakumbh is more than just a religious gathering; it symbolizes faith, unity, and diversity. This event not only highlights India’s spiritual significance but also spreads the greatness of Indian culture worldwide. The Mahakumbh Mela serves as a powerful reminder of social and cultural unity, showcasing the strength of collective belief and the beauty of diversity.
