Event Overview and Objectives

WAVES is designed to be a transformative experience for the Media & Entertainment industry. The event will feature a variety of engaging panel discussions, inspiring talks, and interactive sessions led by industry luminaries. Participants can expect to gain valuable insights and knowledge that will help shape a future-ready M&E sector in India. The summit is not just about discussions; it aims to amplify India’s voice on the global stage, showcasing the country’s vibrant creative industry and its vast potential.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, seeks to leverage India’s rich cultural heritage to foster global harmony and enhance the Creator’s economy. By promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration between Indian and international stakeholders, WAVES aims to create a dynamic platform for dialogue and innovation.

Four Pillars of WAVES

WAVES is structured around four key pillars that encompass the entire spectrum of the M&E sector. The first pillar, Broadcasting & Infotainment, focuses on the evolving landscape of information and entertainment delivery. It aims to empower citizens and adapt to the challenges of the 21st century, covering areas such as television, radio, podcasts, and digital content creation.

The second pillar, AVGC-XR, delves into immersive storytelling and interactive experiences, highlighting advancements in animation, visual effects, e-sports, and augmented reality. This segment showcases how technology and artistry can converge to create compelling narratives.

The third pillar, Digital Media & Innovation, explores the impact of digital platforms on entertainment consumption. It includes discussions on OTT platforms, social media, and the role of generative AI in shaping future content. The final pillar, Films, focuses on filmmaking, production, and the globalization of Indian cinema, addressing co-production opportunities and film incentives.

Special Initiatives and Opportunities

WAVES will also introduce the Create in India Challenge (CIC), which has already garnered over 85,000 registrations, including international participants. This initiative aims to provide a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills and network with industry leaders. The Creatosphere will host masterclasses, workshops, and a gaming arena, culminating in the WAVES CIC Awards.

Another significant aspect of the summit is the Global Media Dialogue, scheduled for May 2, 2025. This segment will bring together global leaders and industry stakeholders to discuss the future of the audio-visual and entertainment sectors, emphasizing international collaboration and ethical practices.

Additionally, the WaveXcelerator program will connect M&E startups with investors, fostering innovation and funding opportunities. The WAVES Bazaar will serve as a global marketplace for industry professionals, allowing them to engage with buyers and sellers while showcasing a diverse range of projects.
