Army Chief of Staff General Manoj Pande will visit Manipur
Army Chief of Staff General Manoj Pande will visit Manipur on 27 and 28 May 2023. COAS will visit various locations where he will interact with local formation commanders and get a first-hand account of the situation on the ground . He will also interact with troops.
He will meet with Ms. Anusuiya Uikey, Honorable Governor of Manipur, Mr. N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister and Mr. Kuldiep Singh, the Chief Security Advisor of Manipur, on 28th May 2023 to discuss and deliberate on the current situation and future trajectory, in order to restore normality as soon as possible.
Due to the internal security situation in Manipur, the state administration had requisitioned the rifles of the army and Assam on 3 May 2023. About 35,000 civilians were evacuated to safe areas and immediate relief and humanitarian aid was provided to civilians displaced by the Assam Army and Rifles.
