Check on Infiltration from Neighbouring Countries

The government has taken a multi-pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration which, among others, includes the tactical deployment of border guard forces along international borders, erection of border fences and lighting, effective border domination by patrolling, laying Nakas, maintaining observation posts along borders, mapping vulnerability of border posts (BOPs), deploying special surveillance equipment and vehicles such as Hand Held Thermal Imager (HHTI), Night Vision Device (NVD), Twin Telescope, UAV, Long Range Reconnaissance and Observation System (LORROS), Battle Field Surveillance Radar (BFSR), integrated surveillance technology equipped with CCTV/PTZ cameras, IR sensors and infrared alarm with command and control system, relentless anti-infiltration operation, strengthening intelligence network, anti-tunneling exercise in vulnerable areas and deployment of vessels/boats, floating BOPs and technological solutions in areas of non-viable boundaries such as river divides, etc.

The construction of fences along India’s borders has been undertaken as per the requirements and situations prevailing on the respective borders to control illegal cross-border activities and address security issues.

This information was given by the Union Minister for the Ministry of Development of the Northeast Region Shri G. Kishan Reddy in a written response to Lok Sabha today.
