Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences Announces Second Edition
The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, has launched the second edition of its flagship initiative, CCRAS-PRAYATNA – Scientific Writing Workshop. This program is designed to enhance the scientific writing skills of Ayurveda postgraduate, Ph.D., and post-doctoral scholars. By focusing on manuscript development and research publication, the initiative aims to foster a robust research culture in Ayurveda and improve the global visibility of Ayurveda research.
Empowering Young Researchers
Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, the Director General of CCRAS, highlighted the significance of this initiative in empowering young Ayurveda researchers. He stated that the CCRAS-PRAYATNA program reflects a commitment to nurturing a strong research culture within the field. The workshop provides hands-on training, expert guidance, and structured mentorship to help scholars effectively communicate their research. Prof. Acharya noted that the positive outcomes from the first session underscore the necessity of this intervention, and he is optimistic that the upcoming workshops will further enhance the impact of Ayurveda research on a global scale.
Workshop Objectives and Structure
Launched in August 2024, the PRAYATNA workshop series aims to strengthen the research ecosystem in Ayurveda by aligning academic research with international publishing standards. The initiative combines expert mentorship, practical training, and peer-reviewed feedback, enabling young scholars to convert their thesis work into publishable articles. The primary objectives of the workshop include building competencies in scientific writing, increasing research visibility, and improving publication readiness. These efforts are expected to contribute to a globally recognized evidence base in Ayurveda.
Success of the Inaugural Workshop
The inaugural workshop, held at Shri BMK KLE Ayurveda College in Belagavi, was met with considerable success, resulting in the development and submission of multiple manuscripts to esteemed journals. The second edition for 2025-26 will take place at institutions selected through a national Expression of Interest (EOI) process. The program will feature a multi-tiered structure, including sensitization webinars, article reviews, and a residential manuscript development workshop. This approach ensures deeper engagement and output-driven learning. Ayurveda institutions interested in hosting the upcoming PRAYATNA workshop can submit their EOIs to ccrasprayatna[at]gmail[dot]com by August 15, 2025.
CCRAS’s Commitment to Research Advancement
As a leader in promoting evidence-based Ayurveda, CCRAS is dedicated to enhancing research and academic capacity through various impactful initiatives. The Council publishes several reputable journals, including the Journal of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JRAS) and the Journal of Drug Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JDRAS), which have significantly increased the global visibility of Ayurveda scholarship. To cultivate a thriving research culture, CCRAS also offers structured programs such as SPARK for undergraduate students, PG-STAR for postgraduates, AGNI for physicians, and SMART for educators. The Scientific Writing Workshops, including the PRAYATNA series, play a crucial role in this ecosystem by providing focused training in clinical, drug, and literary research, ultimately improving manuscript quality and publication outcomes.
