Celebrating Raul Seixas Doodle – Google Doodles

About the Doodle:

Seixas was introduced to rock music at an early age, listening to tunes from artists like Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and more. At only 12 years old, he formed his first cover band called Raulzito e os Panteras (Little Raul and the Panthers) and landed small gigs on TV Salvador. As time went on, the group made a name for themselves throughout Brazil and eventually moved to Rio de Janeiro in 1967.

After the group disbanded, Seixas worked for CBS before releasing Sociedade da Grā-Ordem Kavernista Apresenta Sessão das Dez, an experimental album that altered the course of his career. The next turning point was his performance of Ouro de Tolo on the TV show Phono 73, which brought him into the limelight. Over the next decade, Seixas was well known in cities like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Many admired his profound lyrics and the way he stayed true to his northeastern roots when writing songs.

Throughout his 26-year career, Seixas released 21 albums that explored different styles and themes. While his first album Krig-ha, Bandolo! (1973) featured chart-topping classics, his other works like Há 10 Mil Anos Atrás (1976) featured more introspective songs. He welcomed the challenge of straying from the norm and created his own musical path. Today, he is recognized as a foundational artist who dedicated his soul to the rise of rock and roll in Brazil — the Father of Brazilian Rock.
