Celebrating India’s Constitution: A Grand Event at Maha Kumbh
In a significant initiative to enhance awareness about the Constitution of India and the legal rights of its citizens, the Department of Justice is set to host a major event at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on January 24, 2025. This event will mark the culmination of the year-long nationwide campaign titled “Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman” (HS2). Launched on January 24, 2024, by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, this campaign aims to engage citizens in shaping a vision for a developed India by 2047. It commemorates the 75th anniversary of India as a Republic and the adoption of its Constitution.
The Launch of “Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman”
The “Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman” campaign was inaugurated at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. It serves as a call to action for every citizen to participate in nation-building. The campaign has seen remarkable engagement, with over 130,000 citizens taking the Panch Pran Pledge via the MyGov platform. This pledge reflects a commitment to the values enshrined in the Constitution and the vision for a prosperous future.
Under the Gram Vidhi Chetna initiative, law students across the country organized legal awareness activities in adopted villages. These efforts reached over 21,000 beneficiaries, ensuring that legal knowledge is accessible at the grassroots level. Additionally, the Nari Bhagidari and Vanchit Varg Samman initiatives engaged more than 7 million people through webinars, fostering women’s participation in legal and social matters. The Nav Bharat Nav Sankalp campaign inspired youth involvement through various interactive competitions, encouraging them to take responsibility for a better future.
Nationwide Participation and Impact
The campaign has been a year-long endeavor, reaching various regions across India. Events were held in cities like Bikaner, Prayagraj, and Guwahati, attracting over 5,000 attendees in person. More than 800,000 citizens participated in sub-campaigns such as Sabko Nyaya Har Ghar Nyaya, Nav Bharat Nav Sankalp, and Vidhi Jagriti Abhiyaan. These initiatives have successfully raised awareness about the Constitution and its relevance in contemporary society.
The upcoming event in Prayagraj will take place at the Parmarth Triveni Pushp, Arail Ghat. This location is significant as it coincides with the Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world. Millions of people gather at this confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers to partake in spiritual rituals. The merging of this historic religious event with the HS2 campaign’s closing ceremony symbolizes the unity of India’s cultural heritage, spiritual traditions, and constitutional values.
Key Highlights of the Closing Event
The event on January 24, 2025, will feature several key activities to celebrate the achievements of the “Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Samman” campaign. The Hon’ble Minister of State for Law and Justice will release an Achievement Booklet, documenting the campaign’s journey, including its launch, regional events, and various activities throughout the year.
Additionally, the Department of Justice will launch its 2025 calendar, which reflects the campaign’s themes and activities. A movie showcasing the year-long journey of the HS2 campaign will also be unveiled, capturing its essence through engaging audio-visuals. This event will not only mark the conclusion of the campaign but will also herald the beginning of “Hamara Samvidhan Hamara Swabhiman,” which aims to further engage citizens in understanding the Constitution and their legal rights.
The event will be graced by notable dignitaries, including Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of State for Law and Justice, and His Holiness Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji, among others. This gathering will serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of constitutional values and the collective efforts of citizens in promoting legal awareness across the nation.
