The 2nd Edition of Krishnaveni Sangeetha Neerajanam is set to be a grand celebration of Carnatic music, traditional crafts, and culinary heritage. Scheduled for December 6-8, 2024, this vibrant festival will take place at the Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetra Auditorium in Vijayawada. Organized by the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with various government ministries, this event promises to showcase the rich cultural tapestry of India. With 35 performances featuring 140 talented artists, the festival aims to connect audiences with the classical traditions of India while promoting the cultural legacy of Andhra Pradesh.
A Rich Musical Experience
The festival will unfold over three days, each offering a unique musical experience. Day 1, on December 6, will feature 11 captivating performances. Attendees can expect a diverse range of acts, including Nagaswaram, Harikatha, vocal concerts, and Nama Sankeerthana. This day will set the tone for the festival, immersing visitors in the enchanting world of Carnatic music.
On Day 2, December 7, another 11 performances will take center stage. This day will highlight Thyagarajaโs Pancharatna Kritis, flute recitals, and other musical forms. The performances will not only entertain but also educate audiences about the depth and beauty of Carnatic music.
The festival will conclude on December 8 with 13 spellbinding performances. This final day will feature Devi Kritis, mandolin recitals, and Thyagaraja Divya Nama Kritis. Each performance will celebrate the contributions of legendary Telugu composers, showcasing the lyrical beauty of Carnatic music. The festival aims to leave audiences mesmerized, making it a must-attend event for music lovers and cultural connoisseurs alike.
Iconic Venues and Special Guests
The festival will take place across three iconic venues in Vijayawada. The main venue will be the Tummallapallivari Kshetrayya Kalakshetram, known for its rich cultural significance. On December 7, performances will also be held at Durga Ghat, where Thyagarajaโs Pancharatna Kritis will be rendered at 8:30 AM. The final day will see performances at the Kanaka Durga Temple, featuring Devi Kritis at the same time.
The event will be graced by distinguished dignitaries. Shri Suresh Gopi, Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism, will inaugurate the festival as the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees include Shri Kandula Durgesh, Honโble Minister for Tourism, Culture & Cinematography of Andhra Pradesh, and Shri Kesineni Sivanath, Member of Parliament for Vijayawada. Their presence will add prestige to the event, highlighting its importance in promoting cultural tourism in the region.
Heritage Showcase and Culinary Delights
In addition to the musical performances, the festival will feature a special Heritage Showcase organized by the Ministry of Textiles. This exhibition will display GI-tagged products from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Visitors can explore iconic handloom sarees like Mangalagiri Cotton, Uppada Jamdani, Dharmavaram Silk, and Pochampally Ikat. Craft items such as Kondapalli Wooden Toys, Kalamkari Paintings, and Narsapur Crochet Lace will also be on display. This showcase will offer a glimpse into the regionโs rich artisan traditions.
The Indian Culinary Institute from Tirupati will set up a food stall, highlighting the culinary heritage of Andhra Pradesh. Visitors will have the opportunity to savor authentic regional flavors, enhancing their overall festival experience. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh Tourism will host a Tourism Pavilion to provide information about the stateโs renowned attractions and hidden gems.
