Buffalo8 Secures Global Rights to ‘Lord Curzon Ki’

Los Angeles-based media company Buffalo8 has made a significant move by acquiring the international distribution rights for the Indian thriller Lord Curzon Ki Haveli. Directed by Anshuman Jha, this genre-bending dark comedy features prominent actors Rasika Dugal and Arjun Mathur. This acquisition marks a milestone for Indian independent cinema, as it will be the first Indian feature film to be distributed under the Buffalo8 banner in North America.

European Premiere Highlights

Lord Curzon Ki Haveli recently premiered at the Razor Reel Flanders Film Festival in Belgium, a notable platform for genre films in Europe. Following its successful debut, Buffalo8 recognized the film’s potential to captivate diverse international audiences. The company is known for distributing acclaimed content, including Spike Lee’s Rodney King and Netflixโ€™s Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes. The acquisition reflects Buffalo8’s commitment to showcasing unique narratives that resonate across cultures.

Grady Craig, President of Buffalo8, expressed his enthusiasm about the film, stating that it presents a compelling story that intertwines cultural and historical narratives. He praised the film’s blend of black comedy and thriller elements, which he noted is a rare combination in Indian cinema. Craig emphasized the film’s ability to connect with a wide range of viewers, highlighting its significance in the global film landscape.

Director’s Vision and Collaboration

Anshuman Jha, who not only directed but also stars in Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, shared his excitement about partnering with Buffalo8 for the North American release. He highlighted the company’s dedication to bold and original storytelling, making them an ideal fit for the film. Jha described Lord Curzon Ki Haveli as a unique cinematic experience that challenges traditional perceptions of Indian films. He expressed gratitude for Buffalo8’s belief in the project, viewing the acquisition as a powerful affirmation of the growing global presence of Indian storytellers.

The film, produced by Golden Ratio Films, First Ray Films, and Adya Films, features a talented ensemble cast, including Paresh Pahuja, Tanmay Dhanania, and Zoha Rahman. Set against the backdrop of London, the narrative revolves around a suspense-filled dinner party, paying homage to Hitchcock’s style while incorporating sharp wit, tension, and social commentary.

Upcoming Release and Global Impact

Lord Curzon Ki Haveli has recently received its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India and is slated to hit North American theaters later in 2025. With its cross-cultural themes and distinctive tone, the film is well-positioned to contribute to the increasing global interest in Indian thriller cinema. As it prepares for its release, the film is expected to engage audiences and further elevate the profile of Indian independent films on the international stage.
