BRICS Youth Council Meeting on Entrepreneurship

The Department of Youth Affairs, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India, is set to host the BRICS Youth Council Entrepreneurship Working Group Meeting. Scheduled from March 3 to March 7, 2025, this significant event will focus on the theme โ€œYouth Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth.โ€ Approximately 45 youth representatives from BRICS nations will participate, creating a platform for collaboration and exchange of ideas.

Objectives of the Meeting

The upcoming meeting aims to foster dialogue among youth representatives from BRICS countries. India will facilitate discussions on various policies, programs, and cooperation opportunities in entrepreneurship. This gathering will allow participants to share their experiences and insights related to youth initiatives.

One of the primary objectives is to establish the BRICS Youth Council: Entrepreneurship Working Group. This group will focus on discussing work plans related to entrepreneurship among member countries. Participants will explore concrete actions to enhance youth cooperation in this vital area. The meeting will also address the creation of new youth formats aligned with the prioritized directions of BRICS and its Working Groups.

Additionally, the meeting will connect participants with international entrepreneurship opportunities within BRICS nations. This connection is crucial for fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and sustainable growth among young entrepreneurs.

Run-Up Events Across India

To prepare for the main event, the Department of Youth Affairs will organize a series of eight run-up events at various universities and colleges across India. These events will serve as forums for healthy discussions and will help disseminate Indiaโ€™s agenda on entrepreneurship to a broader audience.

The first run-up event is scheduled for January 15, 2025, at Miranda House, Delhi University. Following this, the second event will take place at Mata Sundri College for Women on January 17, 2025. The third event is planned for January 24, 2025, at IIM Jammu, while the fourth will occur at NFSU in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on January 28, 2025.

These events will feature panel discussions with talented youth speakers on pre-identified relevant topics. They aim to enhance the understanding of contemporary global issues among the youth and develop an international perspective on the importance of multilateral forums.

Tentative Schedule for Remaining Events

The tentative schedule for the remaining run-up events is as follows:

  1. The fifth run-up event is planned for February 4, 2025, at KIIT, Odisha.
  2. The sixth event will take place on February 7, 2025, at IIT Guwahati, Assam.
  3. The seventh run-up event is scheduled for February 11, 2025, at IISc, Bangalore, Karnataka.These events are designed to engage youth in meaningful discussions about entrepreneurship and its role in sustainable development. By participating in these discussions, young people will gain insights into the challenges and opportunities in the entrepreneurial landscape.
