Bitget Collaborates with UNICEF to Enhance Blockchain Education

Bitget, a Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange, has announced a partnership with UNICEF Luxembourg to enhance training in Web3 technologies. This initiative aims to educate over 300,000 individuals across eight countries, including India, Brazil, Malaysia, and Morocco. Through its educational arm, Bitget Academy, the exchange plans to develop a training module focused on teaching participants how to create video games using blockchain technology. This collaboration will also see Bitget join UNICEF’s Game Changers Coalition, which focuses on skill development for young girls worldwide.

Three-Year Partnership with UNICEF

The partnership between Bitget and UNICEF Luxembourg is set to last for three years, as confirmed by the exchange in a statement shared with Gadgets 360. This collaboration aims to empower young women by providing them with essential digital skills that are increasingly vital in todayโ€™s job market. Sandra Visscher, the executive director of UNICEF Luxembourg, emphasized the importance of digital skills as a means of fostering opportunity and inclusion. She welcomed the blockchain training initiative as a valuable addition to UNICEF’s educational curriculum, highlighting the need for such programs to reach underserved communities.

Focus on Skill Development for Young Girls

Bitget’s initiative is particularly focused on young girls, aiming to equip them with the skills necessary to thrive in the evolving crypto economy. The exchange plans to introduce various Web3 projects and developers to UNICEF, encouraging their involvement in the agency’s global blockchain training outreach. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen noted that introducing emerging technologies like blockchain early and equitably is crucial for empowering the next generation. The initiative comes at a time when the gaming industry is expected to see over a million women entering by 2027, underscoring the importance of technical training for young women from low and middle-income countries.

Addressing the Need for Digital Competencies

UNICEF has pointed out that 90 percent of modern jobs require digital competencies, making it essential for young women to gain access to technical training. The partnership between Bitget and UNICEF Luxembourg aims to ensure that these young women do not miss out on employment opportunities due to a lack of skills. The statement from the organizations highlighted their shared goal of empowering a new generation of girls, enabling them to actively participate in the rapidly changing landscape of the crypto economy.

Expanding Web3 Training Initiatives

In recent months, Bitget has intensified its involvement in Web3 training and security initiatives. Earlier this year, the exchange collaborated with Avalanche to enhance India’s Web3 infrastructure and promote blockchain adoption. As the landscape of cryptocurrency evolves, countries worldwide are taking steps to educate their workforces and law enforcement agencies about blockchain and Web3 technologies. Notably, a Blockchain and AI Academy was launched in Vietnam with the aim of training one million individuals in these advanced technologies. Additionally, the UN announced plans to educate over 22,000 staff members in Web3 technologies by December 2023, reflecting a growing global emphasis on digital skills training.
