In Assam, two members, Mission Ranjan Das and Birendra Prasad Baishya, are set to retire on June 14, 2025. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has six members whose terms will end on July 24, 2025. These members include Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, Thiru. M. Shanmugam, Thiru. N. Chandrasegharan, Thiru. M. Mohamed Abdulla, Thiru. P. Wilson, and Thiru. Vaiko. The upcoming elections will determine their successors, marking a significant event in the political landscape of both states.
Election Schedule and Key Dates
The Election Commission has laid out a comprehensive schedule for the biennial elections. Notifications for the elections will be issued on June 2, 2025. Candidates will have until June 9, 2025, to submit their nominations. The scrutiny of these nominations is scheduled for June 10, followed by the last date for withdrawal of candidatures on June 12. The polling will take place on June 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the counting of votes occurring later that same day at 5:00 PM. The entire election process is expected to be completed by June 23, 2025.
Voting Procedures and Guidelines
To ensure the integrity of the voting process, the Election Commission has specified that only integrated violet color sketch pens, provided by the Returning Officer, should be used for marking preferences on the ballot paper. This measure aims to prevent any discrepancies during the voting process.
