Bharat NCX 2025 Launches to Enhance India’s Cyber Resilience

The National Cybersecurity Exercise, Bharat NCX 2025, was inaugurated today by Deputy National Security Advisor Shri T. V. Ravichandran, alongside Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University. This significant event, organized by the National Security Council Secretariat in partnership with Rashtriya Raksha University, aims to enhance India’s cyber defense capabilities. With a focus on “Enhancing the Operational Preparedness of Indian Cyberspace,” the exercise will engage cybersecurity professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders in a two-week simulation of potential cyber threats.

Objectives and Importance of Bharat NCX 2025

Bharat NCX 2025 serves as a critical platform for addressing the growing challenges in cybersecurity. The exercise brings together experts from various sectors, including governance, healthcare, energy, and defense, to simulate real-world cyber incidents. These scenarios may involve sophisticated attacks on critical infrastructure, deepfake manipulations, and autonomous malware responses. Deputy National Security Advisor Shri T. V. Ravichandran highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in maintaining national security, economic stability, and public safety. He stressed the necessity for realistic drills and simulations to prepare for potential cyber threats effectively.

Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel emphasized the evolving nature of cyber and AI capabilities over the past two decades. He pointed out that the digital landscape has become a new battleground for statecraft and competition, involving both nation-states and state-sponsored actors. The objectives of Bharat NCX 2025 include proactively preventing cyber-attacks, reducing vulnerability to cyber threats, and ensuring rapid recovery with minimal impact when incidents occur.

Key Features of the Exercise

Bharat NCX 2025 offers an immersive learning environment designed to enhance cyber defense and incident response skills. Participants will engage in live-fire simulations that replicate real-world attacks on both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems. The exercise will also provide insights into how Artificial Intelligence is transforming the cybersecurity landscape. By fostering collaboration among government bodies, public and private sector organizations, and industry stakeholders, Bharat NCX 2025 aims to strengthen collective resilience against evolving cyber threats.

A dedicated Strategic Decision-Making Exercise (STRATEX) will be a highlight of the event, bringing together senior leaders from various sectors to navigate national cyber crisis scenarios. This initiative aims to enhance their strategic decision-making capabilities in the face of cyber challenges. Additionally, the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Conclave will facilitate discussions on key developments in cybersecurity, AI, and operational technology, allowing participants to share insights and explore emerging trends.

Showcasing Innovation and Future Strategies

The Bharat Cybersecurity Startup Exhibition will be a significant component of the exercise, showcasing Indian startups that are developing innovative cybersecurity solutions. This exhibition will highlight the contributions of these startups in building a secure and self-reliant digital infrastructure for the nation. Bharat NCX 2025 emphasizes leadership engagement, cross-sector collaboration, and capacity building, reinforcing a unified approach to managing intelligent and adaptive cyber threats.

The event is scheduled to run from July 21 to August 1, 2025, culminating in a comprehensive debriefing session. This session will consolidate key lessons learned, evaluate operational and policy-level takeaways, and establish forward-looking strategies for enhancing national cyber resilience. Bharat NCX 2025 stands as a testament to India’s commitment to strengthening its cyber frontiers through responsible and strategic use of advanced technologies.
