AURIC Smart City Marks Six Years of Industrial Development

AURIC, the Greenfield Industrial Smart City located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, is celebrating its sixth anniversary, marking a significant milestone in industrial development and sustainable growth. Established under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, AURIC has attracted substantial global investments and created thousands of jobs. With a focus on innovation and inclusivity, the industrial area has become a model for future-ready manufacturing hubs in India.

AURIC’s Growth and Economic Impact

Over the past six years, AURIC has made remarkable strides in industrial development. The area has successfully allotted 323 plots across various industrial and mixed-use categories, covering a total of 3,029 acres of industrial land and 117 acres of mixed-use land. The investment potential in AURIC exceeds โ‚น71,343 crore, with the capacity to generate approximately 62,405 jobs, both direct and indirect. Currently, 78 units are operational, while 62 factories are under construction, and an additional 184 units are preparing to commence construction. This growth reflects the confidence investors have in AURIC’s infrastructure and policy framework, making it a prime destination for industrial investment.

Achievements Over Six Years

AURIC has successfully attracted a diverse range of businesses, with plots allotted to 135 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), 17 large-scale projects, and 16 non-MSMEs in the Shendra Industrial Area. Notable investors include South Korea’s Hyosung, which established its first spandex plant in India at AURIC. In the Bidkin Industrial Area, 49 MSMEs and 27 large-scale projects have set up operations, drawing world-class companies from sectors such as automobiles, electric vehicles, and engineering. The industrial land in AURIC is nearly fully allotted, showcasing the trust investors place in the region. AURIC also emphasizes inclusivity, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs and MSMEs, exemplified by successful business leaders like Vaishali Ajeet Deshpande and Dr. Hershali Sandeep Deshmukh. Furthermore, a Skill Development Centre is proposed to enhance workforce capabilities, ensuring a skilled labor pool for the future.

Investment Highlights: Shendra and Bidkin Industrial Areas

The Shendra Industrial Area has attracted investments totaling โ‚น6,096 crore, creating 14,455 jobs. Key investors include global giants such as Hyosung, Perkins, and Siemens, which have established significant operations in the area. Meanwhile, the Bidkin Industrial Area has emerged as a vital growth engine for the Marathwada region, drawing investments worth โ‚น76,219 crore from companies like Ather Energy and Toyota Kirloskar. This influx of capital is expected to generate over 35,000 jobs, further enhancing the region’s economic landscape. The strategic location of AURIC, supported by multi-modal connectivity initiatives, positions it as a competitive investment hub, facilitating efficient logistics and access to national and international markets.

AURIC plays a crucial role in Maharashtra’s ambition to become a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
