Andre Russell of West Indies Poised to Hang Up His International Boots

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has announced his retirement from international cricket, set to take place after the first two matches of the upcoming T20I series against Australia. At 37 years old, Russell has been named in the squad for the five-match series, with his final appearances scheduled at Sabina Park in Jamaica. Since 2019, he has exclusively played T20 internationals, amassing significant contributions with both bat and ball. His retirement arrives just months ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in early 2026, raising questions about how it will impact the West Indies team.

Retirement Announcement and Legacy

Russell’s decision to retire comes as a second blow to West Indies cricket, following Nicholas Pooran’s recent retirement at the young age of 29.
