Air India Enhances Global Reach with New Codeshare Agreement with airBaltic

In a strategic move to bolster connectivity between India and Latvia, Air India has announced a significant expansion of its partnership with airBaltic, the national carrier of Latvia. This new unilateral codeshare agreement aims to provide travelers with easier access to the Baltic region through major European hubs.

New Opportunities for Travelers

Effective immediately, Air India will place its ‘AI’ designator code on airBaltic flights operating between Riga and several key European cities, including Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Milan Malpensa, Vienna, Zurich, and London Gatwick. This initiative allows Air India passengers to book a single ticket that covers their journey from India to Riga, making travel to the Baltic region more convenient and streamlined.

Expanding Regional Access

Moreover, the partnership also facilitates connection to other Baltic destinations such as Tallinn in Estonia and Vilnius in Lithuania via select Air India European gateways. This marks a significant enhancement in travel options for passengers wishing to explore these popular Baltic cities.

Commitment to Global Connectivity

Nipun Aggarwal, the Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, expressed that this expanded partnership underscores the airline’s dedication to providing seamless global connectivity. He noted, “Latvia and the wider Baltic region are emerging travel markets, and this collaboration allows us to offer better access to these destinations for our passengers. Previously, connectivity to this region was limited, but our partnership with airBaltic changes that scenario drastically.”

Air India’s Growing Network

Air India continues to enhance its international network following its privatization in 2022. The airline boasts 24 codeshare arrangements and nearly 100 interline agreements with top carriers around the globe, opening doors for Air India customers to explore over 800 destinations worldwide.

Travelers can begin booking codeshare flights through Air India and airBaltic’s respective channels, as well as via travel agents globally. This partnership not only signifies growth for Air India but also enhances the travel experience for its customers.
