AIIA Organizes Three CME Programs for Ayurveda Teachers under Ayurgyan Scheme

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi recently concluded three six-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs aimed at enhancing the skills of Ayurveda teachers. Held from September 8 to 13, 2025, these programs were part of the Ayurgyan Scheme initiated by the Ministry of Ayush. Collaborating with the Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), AIIA focused on capacity building and professional development for educators in the field of Ayurveda.

Program Overview and Objectives

The CME programs were hosted by the Departments of Kriya Sharira, Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, and Swasthavritta & Yoga. Their primary goal was to strengthen the academic and professional capabilities of Ayurveda teachers across India. By integrating traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific approaches, the programs aimed to enrich the educational landscape of Ayurveda. Participants engaged in a variety of lectures and discussions, fostering a deeper understanding of both classical and contemporary practices in Ayurveda.

Training in Kriya Sharira

The Department of Kriya Sharira selected 30 teachers from various states for specialized training. This segment featured 12 distinguished experts who delivered comprehensive lectures on topics such as Oja, Agni, Mana, Indriya, Prakriti, Nidra, and bioinformatics. The curriculum also included advanced methods for Nadi assessment and insights into the cardiorespiratory system. Innovative teaching techniques and advanced research tools, including multi-omics and transcriptome analysis, were emphasized. This blend of classical Ayurvedic principles with modern analytical methods aimed to enhance the teaching capabilities of the participants.

Focus on Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana

The CME on Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana attracted 208 registrations from 20 states, with 30 participants ultimately selected. This program featured 14 experts who discussed critical topics such as drug standardization, safety and efficacy evaluation, and regulatory frameworks. The discussions also covered Ayurvedic cosmetics, molecular simulation, and the functional characterization of formulations. By aligning Ayurvedic drug development practices with contemporary scientific standards, the program aimed to enhance the efficacy and safety of Ayurvedic treatments.

Swasthavritta and Yoga CME Highlights

The Swasthavritta and Yoga CME received 136 registrations from 20 states, with 30 participants chosen for the program. Over 20 experts from leading institutions, including AIIMS and NIFTEM, provided insights into Ayurvedic dietetics, sleep science, and stress management. The curriculum also included discussions on Dinacharya, Ritucharya, and environmental health. By linking traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific evidence, this CME reinforced the principle of Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam, which emphasizes the preservation of health.

Through these CME programs, AIIA has made significant strides in empowering Ayurveda educators with advanced interdisciplinary knowledge and innovative teaching methodologies. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Ayushโ€™s vision to modernize and globalize Ayurveda education and research, ensuring that the field continues to evolve and thrive.
