Adobe Launches Firefly Image Model 4 Ultra with Integration Features

Adobe has unveiled an array of innovative features and enhancements during its annual Adobe Max conference, held on Thursday. Among the highlights are the introduction of new Firefly artificial intelligence (AI) models, support for third-party models, and exciting updates to Adobe Express. The company also launched a new Firefly mobile app and introduced Adobe Boards, a tool designed for storyboard creation. Notably, the Adobe Firefly Video model, which was previewed last year, is now available to subscribers.

Adobe Firefly Image 4 AI Models Released

Adobe has introduced two new text-to-image AI models, named Image Model 4 and Image Model 4 Ultra, as part of its Firefly suite. These models are successors to the Image Model 3 series launched last year. The company asserts that the Model 4 series offers significant enhancements in accuracy, prompt fidelity, and realism for generated images. The Firefly Image Model 4 is optimized for rapid image generation, making it ideal for creating simple illustrations, icons, and basic photo objects.

In contrast, the Image Model 4 Ultra stands as the flagship model, capable of producing photorealistic scenes, human portraits, and intricate imagery. Both models come equipped with various features, including filters, style options, and composition matching, and are now accessible to users with Firefly subscriptions.

New Features in the Firefly App

In addition to the new AI models, Adobe has rolled out several other tools within the Firefly app. The newly introduced Adobe Vector Model allows users to generate editable vector-based artwork, including logo variations, product packaging, icons, and patterns, all through natural language text prompts. This feature enhances the creative capabilities available within the Firefly app. Another significant addition is the Firefly Boards tool, which is currently in public beta. This interface enables users to create storyboards, mood boards, and explore various concepts. Initially introduced as Project Concept, the tool includes a text-to-image generator and a suite of AI-powered creation and editing tools, along with an inline AI editor feature. Adobe emphasizes that this platform is designed for users to iterate on different variations of ideas and refine their creative processes.

Furthermore, the Adobe Firefly Video model, which was first announced in September 2023, is now generally available to all users, expanding the app’s capabilities in video generation. Adobe is also enhancing the Firefly app by integrating third-party AI models, including those from OpenAI and Google, with plans to incorporate additional models from partners in the near future.

New Features in Adobe Express

Adobe Express, the company’s content creation platform, has also received a host of new features, primarily focused on video editing. These enhancements aim to streamline the video content creation process, making it more efficient for users. One of the standout features is the new Clip Maker, which utilizes AI to transform longer video footage into shareable clips. This tool can identify key moments, add captions, and reframe clips, simplifying the editing process.

Additionally, Adobe has introduced a Firefly Video Model-powered video generation tool that accepts both text and images to create custom b-roll and background footage. Other features include an Enhance Speech tool that eliminates background noise and a Video Self-Record option that allows users to record themselves directly within Adobe Express. The platform also includes a Drop Zone tool for compiling clips into sequences and a Scene View feature that rearranges clips for batch editing. Adobe Express is now integrated with Vimeo, enabling users to export and publish their content directly on the platform. Beyond video editing, the content creation tool is adding a Dynamic Animation feature that infuses natural motion effects into still images, transforming them into animated visuals. For enterprise users, the Generate Similar feature can create a collection of visual assets based on a single on-brand image, while over 30 new filters are being added for users to explore within the Adobe Express app.
