Adobe Acrobat Enhances AI with Contract Intelligence

Adobe Acrobat is stepping up its game with a new feature that promises to simplify the way users interact with complex contracts. Announced recently, the feature, known as Contract Intelligence, leverages artificial intelligence to provide users with quick and clear insights into lengthy legal documents. This innovation aims to address a common issue: many people do not fully read contracts before signing them. With this new capability, Adobe seeks to enhance user understanding and streamline the contract review process.

Understanding Contract Intelligence

Contract Intelligence is a significant addition to Adobe Acrobat’s AI assistant. This feature was developed based on feedback from a survey conducted by Adobe in collaboration with research firm Advanis. The survey included responses from over 1,000 participants, including consumers, small business owners, knowledge workers, and technology leaders. The results revealed a startling trend: 70% of consumers admitted to not reading contracts before signing. This statistic was echoed by 62% of small business owners and 61% of knowledge workers.

Recognizing this widespread issue, Adobe designed Contract Intelligence to help users navigate complex contracts more effectively. When a user opens a contract in Acrobat, the AI assistant automatically identifies the document type. This functionality extends to scanned documents as well. Once recognized, the AI generates an overview of the contract, highlighting key terms and clauses with just a single click. This feature not only saves time but also enhances comprehension, allowing users to grasp essential information quickly.

Key Features of Contract Intelligence

The Contract Intelligence feature offers several valuable tools to improve user experience. One of the standout capabilities is the AI’s ability to summarize and simplify contract language. This function is particularly beneficial for individuals who may not have a legal background. By breaking down complex terminology into more digestible language, the AI assistant makes it easier for users to understand their obligations and rights within the contract.

Additionally, Contract Intelligence provides users with recommended questions tailored to the specific document. This feature encourages users to seek further clarification on important aspects of the contract, ensuring they are well-informed before making decisions. The AI also includes clickable citations next to the generated summaries. Users can click on these citations to verify the information, adding an extra layer of trust to the AI-generated outputs.

Another notable aspect of this feature is its ability to compare different versions of up to ten contracts. This capability is essential for users who need to track changes or differences between documents, especially in negotiations or revisions. The support for scanned documents further enhances its utility, making it a versatile tool for various users.

Accessibility and Pricing

The Contract Intelligence feature is now available to both paid and free users of Adobe Acrobat. It is accessible through the Acrobat AI Assistant add-on, which is compatible with the desktop application, web client, and mobile apps. However, it is important to note that the feature currently supports only the English language. This limitation may affect users in non-English speaking regions, but Adobe plans to expand its language support in the future.

For those interested in utilizing this new feature, the Acrobat AI Assistant add-on is priced at Rs. 398 per month. This subscription model allows users to access advanced AI tools that can significantly enhance their document management experience. By investing in this feature, users can save time and reduce the risk of misunderstandings in contract agreements.
