Empowering Women: India’s Digital Exhibition at Mahakumbh

The Government of India has long recognized that empowering women is crucial for the nation’s progress. Following the principle that “Women Empowerment is Nation’s Upliftment,” various programs have been launched to enhance the socio-economic status of women across the country. To showcase these initiatives, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has organized a digital exhibition at the Triveni Marg exhibition area in Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh. This exhibition aims to engage the public and raise awareness about the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

Showcasing Key Initiatives for Women

The digital exhibition highlights several significant schemes designed to empower women, including the Nari Shakti Vandan Act and the Namo Drone Didi Scheme. The Nari Shakti Vandan Act is a landmark legislation that reserves 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies for women. This initiative aims to increase women’s representation in politics and decision-making processes. So far, the act has positively impacted the lives of 10 crore women, helping them become self-reliant through self-help groups.

Additionally, the government has set a target to create 2 crore more “Lakhpati Didis,” women who have achieved financial independence. Under the Nari Samman initiative, homes built under the PM Awas Yojana are now registered in the names of women, further promoting their economic empowerment. These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to fostering an environment where women can thrive and contribute to society.

The Namo Drone Didi Scheme: A Step Towards Self-Sufficiency

Another notable initiative showcased at the exhibition is the Namo Drone Didi Scheme. This program aims to empower women’s self-help groups by providing them with drones, enabling them to become self-sufficient. So far, 1,000 women, referred to as “Namo Drone Didis,” have received drones to enhance their productivity and efficiency in various sectors.

Moreover, the exhibition highlights the success of the Sukanya Samriddhi scheme, which has opened over 4 crore accounts with a total deposit of Rs. 2.6 lakh crore. This initiative ensures a secure financial future for girls, promoting their education and well-being. By focusing on both immediate and long-term benefits, these schemes aim to uplift women and girls across India, fostering a culture of empowerment and independence.

Health Initiatives: Ayushman Bharat and Beyond

The exhibition also emphasizes the health initiatives under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Approximately 68 crore people have benefited from free medical treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh, with over 36 crore Ayushman Cards issued. This scheme has significantly improved access to healthcare for millions of families, particularly benefiting women and children.

Additionally, the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card has been issued to over 6 crore senior citizens aged 70 and above, ensuring they receive necessary medical care. The number of medical seats in the country has more than doubled from 51,000 in 2014 to 1,18,000 today, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access. Furthermore, over 14,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras are providing affordable medicines, making healthcare more accessible to the general public. The U-WIN Portal has also been launched to maintain regular vaccination records for children and women, further enhancing public health initiatives.

A Grand Exhibition at Mahakumbh

This grand digital exhibition at the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj serves as a vital platform for raising awareness about government welfare schemes aimed at empowering women. The exhibition has attracted hundreds of visitors daily, receiving widespread praise for its informative and engaging presentation. By showcasing these initiatives, the exhibition not only highlights the government’s efforts but also encourages public participation in the empowerment of women.

As the exhibition continues to draw attention, it reinforces the message that empowering women is essential for the overall upliftment of the nation. Through these initiatives, the Government of India is paving the way for a brighter future for women, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to succeed.
