Alienware Revives Area-51 Laptops and Desktop
Alienware, a subsidiary of Dell, has made a significant announcement at CES 2025. The company is bringing back its iconic Area-51 laptop and gaming desktop. These new machines will feature the latest technology from Intel and Nvidia. Alienware plans to launch these devices later this quarter, and they promise to deliver high performance for gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.
Alienware Area-51 Laptops and Desktop Pricing
The new Alienware Area-51 laptops will start at a price of $1,999, which is approximately Rs. 171,200. This base variant will offer essential features for gamers. However, for those looking for more power, a launch configuration with a next-generation Nvidia GPU is available for $3,199, roughly Rs. 274,000. The laptops will be available with select configurations later this quarter, with additional graphics options and configurations to follow.
On the other hand, the Area-51 Desktop will be priced at $4,499, around Rs. 385,000. This model will also feature a next-generation Nvidia GPU. Similar to the laptops, more graphics options and configurations will be introduced later, including entry-level configurations. These prices reflect Alienware’s commitment to providing high-performance gaming machines that cater to a range of budgets.
Specifications of Alienware Area-51 Laptops
The Alienware Area-51 laptops will come in two display sizes: 18-inch and 16-inch. These gaming-focused machines are designed to deliver exceptional performance. They will feature “280W of power on next-gen Nvidia graphics and a next-gen Intel Ultra CPU.” The laptops will also include a Gorilla Glass window on the underside and a unique hingeless design, enhancing both aesthetics and functionality.
In terms of performance, the Area-51 laptops support up to 175W of total graphics power (TGP) and a 105W thermal design profile (TDP) for processors. They will be powered by next-generation Nvidia graphics and can be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU. Compared to previous models, these laptops are designed to move up to 37% more air through the system while operating 15% quieter. They also support Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) memory at speeds of up to 7200 MT/s and can be configured with up to 12TB of storage using Gen 5 Solid State Drives (SSDs).
Features of the Alienware Area-51 Desktop
The Alienware Area-51 Desktop is built for serious gamers and professionals. It can accommodate up to 64GB of RAM and offers a maximum storage capacity of 8TB through two 4TB drives. The desktop is designed to house a 600W graphics card and provides 280W of processing power. It supports the latest Nvidia graphics and can be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU.
Thermal management is a key feature of the Area-51 Desktop. The 80-liter chassis includes dual 140mm fans that push cool air upward toward the GPU fans. Additionally, dual 180mm fans direct air laterally toward the GPU, CPU, and RAM. For liquid cooling, the desktop is equipped with either a 360mm or 240mm Liquid Cooler (LC). Alienware has also included QR codes inside the chassis to assist customers with updates, repairs, and modifications of key components. Furthermore, the motherboard is replaceable with an optional AlienFX motherboard harness, allowing for third-party aftermarket installations.
In addition to the Area-51 series, Alienware has announced the 2025 edition of the Alienware Aurora Desktop. This mid-sized tower will also feature next-generation Nvidia graphics and Intel Core Ultra 2 processors, set to be available later this quarter.
