11TH AGRICULTURE CENSUS

The agriculture census in India is conducted every five years. The agricultural census fieldwork takes place in three phases, each lasting one year. The subsequent agricultural census (11th in the series) was postponed for a year due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the 2021-22 Agricultural Census was launched on July 28, 2022. Phase I of the 2021-22 Agricultural Census is currently underway and is expected to be completed by December 2023.

For the 2021-22 Agriculture Census, an amount of Rs. 7685 Lakhs were allotted to the States during the 2023-24 financial year. The state budget allocation during the 2023-24 fiscal year is shown below.

This information was given today by the Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, in a written response to the Lok Sabha.
