Shri P Upadhyay takes over as Director General of Naval Armaments

Shri P Upadhyay, INAS has taken up the position of Director General of Naval Armaments (DGONA) at IHQ MoD (Navy) from Shri KSC lyer who retired on 31 May 23. Shri P Upadhyay, belongs to the 1987 batch of the service of Indian naval armament. He joined Naval Armament Organization of Indian Navy on 12 July 1989. He is a graduate of Electrical Engineering from SGSITS Indore, he did his postgraduate degree from Devi Ahilya University in Electrical Engineering with specialization in โ€œDigital Instrumentation and Techniquesโ€ in the 1988 and in Mechanical Engineering from Pune University with a major in ‘Guided Missiles’, in 1995. Over the span of 34 years, he held various senior positions at NAD (Visakhapatnam), NAD (Karanja), NAD (Trombay), NAD ( Alwaye) and IHQ, Mod(N). He is an alumnus of the Naval Defense College of NDC-53.

The officer specializes in missile and torpedo maintenance as well as having extensive knowledge of ammunition disposal.

Assumed the position of Director General of Naval Armaments on 1 June 2023.
