Coal Ministry Extends Bids Submission Date to 27th June, 2023
The Ministry of Coal has extended the deadline for submitting offers until the 27thth of June 2023 for the current 7thth round of commercial coal mine auctions.
In view of the requests received from a large number of potential bidders, the Ministry has extended the deadline for the submission of bids by 28 days and now the deadline for the submission of bids by 7th auction round is 06.27.2023 which was 05.30.2023 before.
In order to create additional production capacity, the Ministry of Coal has so far awarded/auctioned 133 mines with a cumulative peak rated capacity (PRC) of 540 million tons per year (MTPA), of which 48 coal mines they entered production with a cumulative PRC of 195 MPPA. Production from captive/commercial mines reached 16.25 tonnes in the current financial year to 22na May 2023 achieving a significant growth of 10.2% compared to the 14.75 tons produced in the same period last year.
In order to facilitate private actors for the initial development of coal mines, the Ministry is providing the necessary support in terms of land availability, environmental/forest clearings, assistance from financial institutions, inter-agency coordination. The Ministry of Coal has targeted production of 162 tonnes from captive/commercial mines during this financial year.
