India Achieves 8 Million HPV Vaccine Doses in Major Milestone
India has marked a crucial achievement in its fight against cervical cancer, with over 8 million doses of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine administered under the National HPV Vaccination Campaign. Launched in February 2026 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this initiative aims to enhance preventive healthcare for adolescent girls across the nation.
The campaign offers a free, single-dose HPV vaccine to 14-year-old girls at government health facilities, with parental consent required. Notably, Uttar Pradesh leads the nation in vaccinations, with more than 2.2 million adolescent girls having received the vaccine.
