MoSPI Celebrates Hygiene and Cleanliness in Swachhata Pakhwada 2026
The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) successfully concluded its Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 from July 1 to 15, witnessing enthusiastic involvement from various divisions and organizations throughout the country. This initiative emphasized the importance of cleanliness, workplace hygiene, and environmental sustainability, aligning with the broader goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Engaging Activities Across the Nation
During the two-week period, MoSPI offices and field formations participated in an array of activities aimed at promoting sanitation and environmental awareness. These included plantation drives, awareness campaigns, seminars, workshops, and competitions. Additionally, the ministry organized rallies and community outreach programs in neighborhoods, schools, and public areas. Cultural performances like Nukkad Nataks were held, alongside beach clean-up campaigns and initiatives encouraging public involvement. The ministry also focused on critical environmental issues such as reducing single-use plastics and promoting waste segregation and recycling.
Recognizing Excellence in Cleanliness
The Pakhwada culminated with the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the Swachhata Pakhwada Awards 2026, chaired by the Secretary of MoSPI. He presented mementos to the top three performing offices, which included the Field Operations Division (FOD), the National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA), and the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI). These offices were recognized for their exemplary efforts and active participation throughout the Pakhwada.

The Secretary of MoSPI praised the dedication and hard work of all officers and officials involved in the initiative. He emphasized that the importance of cleanliness should extend beyond the designated Pakhwada period and become a fundamental aspect of daily work life and culture.
