Workshop on Tele-Law to Enhance Justice Access in J&K

Srinagar is set to host a pivotal workshop on the Tele-Law initiative, aimed at boosting access to justice through technology, on February 17, 2026. Organized under the Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice (DISHA) scheme by the Department of Justice, this event will be held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC), starting at noon.

The workshop will bring together approximately 800 participants, including prominent judges, legal professionals, and academic representatives from Jammu and Kashmir. Attendees will engage in discussions to enhance awareness and improve the implementation of legal services through technology.

Celebrating National Unity

To mark the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, *Vande Mataram*, the event will commence with a collective singing session, celebrating the song’s cultural significance in the nation’s history.

Driving Legal Awareness

The workshop will specifically focus on the DISHA scheme’s outreach efforts, which are designed to improve legal literacy and access to justice across India. A featured segment titled “DISHA Yojana ke Aayaam: Sugam evam Sulabh Nyaya tak Pahuch” will elaborate on initiatives that promote legal awareness through community outreach programs, digital campaigns, and partnerships with educational institutions and civil society. A strong emphasis will be placed on reaching marginalized and vulnerable communities using simplified and technology-enabled platforms.

Showcasing Local Impact

Another key component, “DISHA in J&K: Ek Jhalak,” will specifically highlight the scheme’s activities within Jammu and Kashmir. This segment aims to showcase how the DISHA scheme has influenced legal awareness and improved overall access to justice in the region.

Recognizing Contributors to Justice

The ceremony will also honor outstanding individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to advancing legal literacy and access to justice through dedicated outreach efforts.

Annual E-Calendar Release

Additionally, an annual e-calendar detailing the Department of Justice’s major activities, campaigns, and awareness programs will be unveiled during the event, providing a structured roadmap for upcoming initiatives.

Distinguished Guests

The workshop will be attended by several notable dignitaries, including Hon’ble Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of State for Law and Justice, and Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, among others. The involvement of esteemed judges and officials from the Jammu & Kashmir High Court will enhance the significance of the discussions.

As part of the Government of India’s commitment to improving access to justice, this Regional Workshop on the Tele-Law Program signifies a crucial step in leveraging technology to expand legal services. By fostering discussions among stakeholders and reviewing implementation efforts, the workshop aims to strengthen justice delivery mechanisms throughout the region.
