India’s Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, and allrounder Shardul Thakur will miss the upcoming Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Delhi, scheduled from January 29 to February 1. The trio is sidelined due to injuries and health issues. Pant is recovering from a side strain, Jaiswal recently underwent endoscopy for stomach pain, and Thakur is recuperating from a calf injury sustained during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Despite these setbacks, Mumbai has qualified for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals after a strong performance in the league stage.
Mumbai’s Injury Concerns
Rishabh Pant has been out of action since sustaining a side strain before the first ODI against New Zealand on January 11. He has been undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for over a week. In his absence, Ayush Badoni has taken over as captain of the Delhi team. Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s health issues have persisted since he was hospitalized following a severe bout of food poisoning after the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. He recently underwent endoscopy to address ongoing stomach pain. Shardul Thakur, who suffered a calf injury during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, has also been ruled out of the match against Delhi.

Despite the absence of key players, Mumbai has shown resilience in the Ranji Trophy, securing 30 points from six matches, including four outright victories.
