Gold and Silver Price Forecast: Will Gold Reach Rs 2 Lakh per 10 Grams and Silver Rs 3 Lakh per Kg by 2026?

Gold and silver prices experienced an extraordinary surge in 2025, leaving many investors astonished by the unprecedented growth. Gold reached a closing price of $4,319, marking a remarkable 65% increase, while silver skyrocketed by 148% to $71.66. As we move into 2026, questions arise about whether this upward trend will continue. Analysts suggest that a combination of geopolitical tensions, macroeconomic concerns, and structural demand shifts could sustain the momentum for both precious metals in the coming year.
Record-Breaking Performance in 2025
The year 2025 proved to be exceptional for gold and silver, with gold achieving approximately 52 record highs throughout the year. This marked the strongest annual returns for gold since 1979, with a substantial increase from $1,898 to $4,488 over the past five years. Silver, on the other hand, demonstrated even more impressive growth, rising from $26.40 to $71.66 during the same period, yielding a remarkable return of 171%. Notably, silver’s significant rally occurred in the latter half of 2025, where it surged nearly 82% since August 27, compared to gold’s 28% increase.
Experts attribute this remarkable performance to a confluence of factors. Praveen Singh, Head of Commodities and Currencies at Mirae Asset ShareKhan, highlighted that political instability, geopolitical tensions, and trade wars contributed to the rising demand for hard assets like gold and silver. Additionally, concerns over surging global debt and reckless fiscal spending have made these precious metals increasingly attractive to investors seeking stability.
Underlying Factors Driving the Rally
Abhilash Koikkara, Head of Forex & Commodities at Nuvama Professional Client Group, emphasized that the price increases were driven by deep structural factors rather than mere short-term speculation. He noted that while fluctuations were influenced by U.S. Federal Reserve policies, the primary drivers were rooted in fundamental economic conditions. The rise of gold signifies a shift in the global financial landscape, with central banks increasing their gold reserves amid rising fiscal pressures and a move toward de-dollarization.
Silver’s rally, while aligned with broader macroeconomic trends, was also fueled by specific physical market fundamentals. Koikkara pointed out that structural supply deficits and increasing industrial demand from sectors such as electrification and renewable energy have tightened the silver market. Unlike previous cycles, the current strength of silver is grounded in consumption growth rather than speculative excess, making it a unique investment opportunity.
Future Outlook for Gold and Silver in 2026
Looking ahead to 2026, analysts predict that gold will continue to perform steadily, bolstered by expectations of lower global interest rates and ongoing central bank purchases. Maneesh Sharma from Anand Rathi Shares & Stock Brokers anticipates that gold could deliver annual returns of 25-30%. However, he cautions that gains may moderate as investors adjust to higher prices. In contrast, silver is expected to outperform gold in percentage terms due to its dual role as both a precious and industrial metal, driven by persistent supply deficits and strong demand from sectors like solar energy and electric vehicles.
Praveen Singh forecasts that gold could reach $5,000 per ounce by the end of 2026, while silver may rise to between $85 and $95. The anticipated restrictions on silver exports from China could further amplify silver’s price, creating a favorable environment for investors. As the market evolves, both metals are likely to experience volatility, but the structural demand for silver positions it as a compelling investment choice in the coming year.
