Godrej Enterprises Unveils Forklift Training Center in Pune to Boost Youth Skills
Pune is set to witness a significant boost in workforce training as Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) launches its new Forklift Training Center in Bhosari. This 2,000 sq. ft. facility is part of an ambitious initiative to enhance the skills of young individuals, improve workplace safety, and support India’s rapidly expanding manufacturing and logistics sectors.
Empowering the Next Generation of Operators
The newly inaugurated training center is designed to craft a future-ready workforce by providing certified forklift training, essential for enhancing safety standards in various industries. With a focus on making industrial roles more accessible, the program also offers a substantial 50% concession on training fees for women, thereby promoting gender diversity in the workforce.
Strengthening Skills and Employment Opportunities
To date, Godrej’s Material Handling Equipment business has successfully trained and certified over 3,500 forklift operators, significantly boosting their employability and improving safety and productivity at operational sites. With the new center, GEG aims to train an additional 500 operators by the end of the fiscal year 2026, contributing to long-term employment as the manufacturing and warehousing footprint grows in India.
Addressing Industry Needs
According to Anil Lingayat, head of the Material Handling Equipment business, the establishment of this Forklift Training Center addresses the urgent demand for skilled, safety-trained personnel in the manufacturing and logistics sectors. “Our initiative not only aims to fortify productivity but also to ensure compliance with safety standards, thereby enhancing the overall industrial ecosystem in the country,” he stated.
Training for Future Challenges
The Forklift Training Center in Pune is strategically positioned to cater to the burgeoning need for certified operators across factories and logistics hubs. The facility provides a blended curriculum combining structured classroom education, practical training, and hands-on certification. Each month, it has the capacity to train and certify over 45 candidates, directly supporting the critical industrial clusters surrounding Pune.
