SSC Permits Candidates to Access, Save, and Review Question Papers with Responses and Correct Answers
New Delhi, October 3: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced a comprehensive set of reforms aimed at enhancing the transparency, security, and convenience of its examinations for millions of candidates nationwide. These changes are designed to uphold the integrity of the examination process while prioritizing the welfare of aspirants, especially as the Commission gears up for a busy examination schedule in the coming months.
Enhanced Transparency for Candidates
One of the most significant reforms introduced by the SSC is the improved accessibility of question papers. Candidates will now have the opportunity to view their own question papers, responses, and the correct answers after the examination. This initiative allows them to challenge answer keys with supporting evidence and retain copies for personal reference. However, to maintain the integrity of ongoing multi-shift exams, restrictions will apply to the disclosure of papers during these sessions. Additionally, the SSC plans to publish selected past question papers as official sample sets at regular intervals, providing candidates with authentic study materials while ensuring the confidentiality of future exams remains intact.
To further ease the financial burden on candidates, the SSC has reduced the fee for challenging questions from ₹100 to ₹50. This change aims to make the process more accessible for those who wish to contest an answer. Alongside the existing toll-free helpline, the Commission has launched an online feedback and grievance portal to facilitate quicker resolution of candidate concerns. A notable innovation is the introduction of equi-percentile normalization, which compares candidates based on their percentile scores rather than raw marks. This method ensures fairness across different exam shifts, eliminating any advantages or disadvantages stemming from variations in paper difficulty.
Strengthening Exam Security
The SSC has placed a strong emphasis on enhancing exam security and fairness. To combat impersonation and prevent candidates from attempting the same exam multiple times, Aadhaar-based authentication has been implemented. Furthermore, question papers are now transmitted securely through a digital vault, significantly reducing the risk of leaks. The SSC has also engaged specialized IT agencies to safeguard against hacking and other forms of malpractice. Officials have stated that the exam monitoring system has been tightened, with strict actions being taken against centers and candidates found violating examination rules.
These security measures were evident during the recently concluded Tier-I of the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025, which saw approximately 28 lakh candidates apply, with nearly 13.5 lakh participating across 126 cities and 255 centers in 45 shifts. While some centers faced technical issues, the SSC has announced a re-examination for affected candidates on October 14, with notifications being sent individually via email and SMS. The window for challenging questions will open the following day, October 15.
Upcoming Examination Schedule
Looking ahead, the SSC has outlined its plans for upcoming examinations scheduled between October 2025 and March 2026. Major exams, including the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSLE), Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), Junior Engineer (JE), and various constable and sub-inspector exams, will be conducted during this period. Officials have expressed confidence that the reforms already in place will ensure these tests are fair, efficient, and candidate-friendly.
In a bid to improve direct communication with candidates, the SSC has also launched its official handle on X (@SSC_GoI). The Commission has urged aspirants to rely solely on official announcements and to be wary of misleading information circulating online.
