Ministry of Steel Initiates Special Campaign 5.0 Emphasizing E-Waste Management and Mechanised Cleaning

The Ministry of Steel, along with its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), is gearing up for Special Campaign 5.0, scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the Ministry’s dedication to cleanliness, sustainability, and effective governance. A key focus will be on scientific e-waste management and the adoption of mechanized cleaning practices, building on the successes of previous campaigns.

Building on Previous Successes

The Ministry’s commitment to cleanliness and efficiency was evident during Special Campaign 4.0, held in October 2024. During this campaign, extensive activities were conducted across various offices and PSUs, leading to significant advancements in clearing pending matters, disposing of obsolete files, and optimizing space. These efforts not only improved record management but also enhanced service delivery. Following the campaign, the Ministry continued its momentum by systematically addressing outdated records, streamlining scrap disposal processes, and efficiently resolving grievances. This ongoing dedication reflects the Ministry’s goal of making cleanliness and administrative efficiency a continuous priority.

Focus Areas for Special Campaign 5.0

Special Campaign 5.0 will concentrate on four key areas to further its objectives. First, e-waste management will be prioritized, ensuring the scientific disposal and management of electronic waste in accordance with environmental standards. Second, the campaign will promote mechanized cleaning practices to enhance workplace hygiene and operational efficiency. Third, there will be a concerted effort to address pending references related to the Prime Minister’s Office, State Governments, Parliament, and VIP matters, alongside the systematic disposal of old files. Lastly, the campaign aims to raise awareness and engage the public through digital platforms and outreach activities, fostering participation in cleanliness initiatives.

Campaign Phases and Implementation

The campaign will unfold in two distinct phases. The Preparatory Phase, running from September 15 to September 30, 2025, will focus on identifying targets and laying the groundwork for the campaign. This will be followed by the Implementation Phase from October 2 to October 31, 2025, which will emphasize execution, monitoring, and achieving measurable outcomes. This structured approach aims to ensure that the campaign’s objectives are met effectively and efficiently.

Commitment to Sustainable Practices

The Ministry of Steel is steadfast in its commitment to establishing new benchmarks in cleanliness, grievance redressal, and sustainable practices. This initiative aligns with broader goals of promoting efficient and citizen-centric governance. By focusing on these areas, the Ministry aims to create a cleaner and more sustainable environment while enhancing the overall effectiveness of its operations.
