Piyush Highlights Team’s Lack of International Experience

Former Indian cricketer Piyush Chawla expressed optimism about India’s revamped Test squad ahead of their five-match tour to England, which starts on June 20. While attending the engagement ceremony of cricketer Rinku Singh in Lucknow, Chawla acknowledged the lack of international experience in the squad but highlighted their extensive cricketing background. This series marks the beginning of India’s ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, featuring Shubman Gill as captain, succeeding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
New Leadership for Indiaโs Test Squad
The upcoming England Test series represents a significant transition for the Indian cricket team. With Shubman Gill stepping into the captaincy role, the squad will embark on a new journey following the retirements of seasoned players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Chawla noted that although many team members are not seasoned in international cricket, they possess the skills necessary to handle challenging situations. The presence of experienced players like Rishabh Pant, who serves as vice-captain, alongside talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah, adds depth to the team. The upcoming series will be crucial for these players to establish their credentials on the international stage.
Celebration of Rinku Singhโs Engagement
During the engagement ceremony of Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj, Chawla offered his best wishes to the couple, emphasizing the importance of this new chapter in their lives. Former cricketer Praveen Kumar, also present at the ceremony, praised the event and extended his own good wishes to the couple. Rinku Singh, who has made his mark in T20 cricket, continues to rise in prominence within the sport. His engagement has drawn attention, showcasing the intersection of personal milestones and professional achievements in the world of cricket.
