A Sneaky Strategy at the Apartment Door
Neil and Saavi stand in a quiet building lobby, their eyes fixed on a closed door ahead. “Wait here,” Neil whispers. “I’ll get us inside.” He steps toward a nearby hallway, pretending to adjust his shirt collar while scanning the area. Saavi watches nervously as he gestures for her to follow. They tiptoe past a desk where a receptionist types loudly, unaware of their movements. Once inside the hallway, Neil’s voice softens. “Sorry I had to grab your hand back there,” he says. “No time for explanations.” Saavi frowns but nods. Before she can ask questions, Neil spots a woman in a uniform approaching with a tray. “Act natural,” he mutters. The room service worker stops beside them. Neil suddenly raises his voice. “How could you forget the key again ?” he snaps, pointing at Saavi. “This is the third time this week!” Saavi blinks, catching on. She crosses her arms but stays silent. The worker shifts uncomfortably. “Ma’am, can you help us?” Neil pleads. “She’s locked us out.” The worker sighs and unlocks the apartment door. Saavi walks in stiffly, her mind racing.
Hidden Truths Beneath the Bed
Inside the dusty apartment, Saavi stares at a jacket draped over a chair. “Why rent this place?” she murmurs, touching the fabric. “It’s miles from home. What were you hiding?” Neil interrupts her thoughts. “Focus. We need to find that ruby fast.” He flips open a drawer, scattering papers. Saavi opens a closet, her fingers brushing against old boxes. Suddenly, Neil crouches near the bed. “Look at this,” he says, pulling up a loose floorboard. A small metal locker rests underneath. Saavi kneels beside him. “If this is here,” she whispers, “what else didn’t I know about?” Neil struggles to pry it open. “Let’s figure that out later. Right now, we need answers.” But outside, the room service worker chats with the receptionist. “Those two seemed off,” she says. The receptionist dials a phone. “I’ll call the cops. Something’s not right.”
Race Against the Police
Back inside, Saavi notices an envelope taped to the locker’s bottom. She peels it off, revealing half a torn currency note. “This… this is from the goon who threatened me,” she gasps. Neil leans closer. “What do you mean?” Saavi explains how a stranger once shoved this fragment into her hand, muttering about her husband’s secrets. “He said this would prove his illegal deals,” she adds. Neil grabs the paper. “Do you have the matching half?” Saavi pulls another torn piece from her pocket. When aligned, the notes form a complete bill—and a code written in tiny ink. “It’s a password!” Neil types the numbers into the locker. With a click, the lid pops open, revealing a glowing red ruby inside. Saavi clutches it, her voice trembling. “Now I can save Ridhi without breaking rules.” But footsteps echo in the hallway. “Police!” a voice booms. Neil grabs Saavi’s arm. “We’re out of time.” They leap through a window onto a fire escape, the ruby tucked in Saavi’s pocket.
Masks, Moves, and a Surprise Kiss
Downstairs, officers swarm the building. “Split up!” one shouts. Neil yanks Saavi into a nearby hotel ballroom. “They’re hosting a couples’ event,” he hisses. “We’ll blend in.” They swap clothes with guests at a coat check and slip on decorative masks. As a DJ plays upbeat music, the pair shuffle into a dance line. Suddenly, the police march inside. Saavi’s mask slips off. An officer spots her. “That’s her!” he yells. Without thinking, Saavi grabs Neil’s shoulders and plants a kiss on his lips. The officer hesitates, awkwardly turning away. Neil pulls her toward an exit, his face flushed. “That worked,” he stammers. Saavi smirks. “Let’s just say… that’s my new escape plan.”
