Sam Manekshaw (3 April 1914 – 27 June 2008), the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, and the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of field marshal. His military career spanned four decades and five wars, beginning with service in the British Indian Army in World War II. He was born on 3 April 1914 in Amritsar, British India.
Nirmal Verma (3 April 1929 – 25 October 2005), a Hindi writer, novelist, activist and translator. He is credited as being one of the pioneers of the Nai Kahani literary movement of Hindi literature, wherein his first collection of stories, Parinde (Birds) is considered its first signature. He was born on 3 April 1929 in Punjab, British India.
Hariharan, an Indian playback, bhajan and ghazal singer from Trivandrum, whose songs have been featured mainly in Tamil and Hindi. He is considered as one of the greatest singers in the history of Indian music. He received a national award twice. In 2004, he was honoured with Padma Shri by the Government of India. He was born on 3 April 1955 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India.
Jaya Prada, an Indian film actress and politician. She was one of the most iconic and influential actresses in both the Telugu and Hindi film industries in the late ’70s, ’80s and early ’90s. Jaya Prada is the recipient of three Filmfare Awards South and has starred in many Telugu and Hindi films along with several Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi films. She left the film industry at the peak of her career, as she joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1994 and entered politics. She was a Member of Parliament (MP) from Rampur from 2004 to 2014. She was born on 3 April 1962 in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Nilesh Moreshwar Kulkarni, a former Indian cricketer. He is a slow left-arm bowler and left-handed lower-order batsman. He was born on 3 April 1973.
Prabhu Deva, an Indian dance choreographer, film director, producer and actor. He worked primarily in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu language films. He was honoured with two National Film Awards for Best Choreography. In 2019, he was awarded the Padma Shri for his contributions to dance. He was born on 3 April 1973 in Mysore, Karnataka.

Kishori Ravindra Amonkar (10 April 1932 – 3 April 2017) was a leading Indian classical vocalist, belonging to the Jaipur gharana, or a community of musicians sharing a distinctive musical style. She was a performer of the classical genre khyal and the light classical genres thumri and bhajan. She died on 3 April 2017 in Maharashtra, India.
