28.86 Lakh Candidates Compete for 32,679 UP Police Constable Posts Across 75 Districts

The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Examination 2026 concluded with record-breaking participation. Over 28.86 lakh candidates appeared for the three-day exam held across all 75 districts of the state. These aspirants competed for just 32,679 constable and equivalent positions. The competition ratio stands at approximately 88 candidates for every single available post.

What makes the UP Police Constable Exam 2026 particularly noteworthy is the participation of highly qualified professionals. Thousands of candidates holding Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degrees appeared alongside those with Master’s of Science (MSc) and Master’s of Arts (MA) qualifications. These overqualified aspirants sought entry-level positions in the state police force.

The exam took place on June 8, 9, and 10, 2026. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) conducted the examination across the state’s 75 districts. For many candidates, securing a position in UP Police services has become more than a career choice. It represents a significant opportunity in a highly competitive job market.

Security Measures and Exam Integrity

Following concerns about paper leaks in competitive examinations like NEET 2026, the state government implemented strict security protocols. The UPPRPB took multiple layers of security measures to prevent malpractice and maintain exam integrity. Continuous CCTV surveillance monitored all testing rooms throughout the examination period.

Mandatory metal detector checkpoints were set up at all exam entry gates. Enhanced administrative oversight was deployed at vulnerable examination centres. These measures ensured that the examination process remained secure and transparent across all 75 districts.

Travel Support for Candidates

The state government recognized the challenges faced by candidates travelling from distant districts. A 50 per cent discount on government-run buses was offered during the exam period. Candidates needed to show their admit card to avail of this facility at bus stations.

Despite these arrangements, major transport hubs experienced significant congestion. Lucknow Charbagh railway station witnessed large crowds as students camped on platforms. Many candidates arrived early to ensure they reached their allotted exam centres on time.

Vacancy Details and Competition

The UP Police Constable Exam 2026 offered 32,679 vacant positions across the state. The recruitment drive attracted candidates from diverse educational backgrounds. The competition intensity reflects the growing demand for police service positions in Uttar Pradesh.

With 28.86 lakh registered candidates competing for these posts, the selection process will be highly competitive. The ratio of approximately 88 candidates per vacancy demonstrates the significant interest in UP Police recruitment. This high participation rate underscores the importance of police service jobs in the state’s employment landscape.
