1 lakh 29 thousand trained under Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana to equip people with soft skills to compete in foreign destinations

The National Skill Development Corporation, under the auspices of the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in association with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), is delivering a one-day Pre-Departure Orientation (PDOT) training to potential migrants under the Pravasi Scheme Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PKVY). The training aims to equip them with the transversal skills necessary to compete in foreign destinations. The guidance covers various aspects, including language, culture, the emigration process, welfare measures and the do’s and don’ts of the destination country. After completing 8 hours of training, the candidate receives a certificate. Starting on the 31stst May 2023 a total of 1,29,062 candidates have received training under PDOT, PKVY, since January 2018.

The Ministry does not keep data on the number of trained PDOs who have found work in various countries.

This information was provided today by the Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, in a written response to the Lok Sabha.
