May 18 is observed as Worlds AIDS Vaccine Day. On this day we remind the efforts of thousands of researchers, scientists, and health professionals who contributed to the finding of safe and effective AIDS medicine. We also celebrate it to increase awareness about HIV Vaccine and Aids prevention.

World AIDS Vaccine Day Theme 2022

The World AIDS Vaccine Day 2022 theme is yet to be released by the awareness day leading body. However, the theme for HIV Vaccine Awareness Day in 2021 was “Global solidarity, shared responsibility”. World AIDS Vaccine Day is a global awareness campaign with a different theme every year.

History of World AIDS Vaccine Day

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) celebrates World AIDS Vaccine Day or HIV Virus Awareness Day. On May 18, we commemorate a speech made by then-US President Bill Clinton. As science and technology advance, he plans to set new goals for developing a vaccine within the next decade.

To commemorate the first anniversary of Clinton’s speech, the first World AIDS Vaccine Day was celebrated in 1998. It is on this day every year that communities around the world hold a variety of activities to raise awareness about vaccines, and preventive care, and to educate the public.

  • The first report of AIDS in the United States was made in 1981, and since then it has spread throughout the world. AIDS is the most advanced form of infection caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
