Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail

Dr Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics and Information Technology co-chaired the 14th Joint Committee Meeting on 30 June 2022 to discuss and decide on all important issues related to the execution of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project. Dr. MORI Masafumi, Special Adviser to Japan’s Prime Minister, co-chaired the meeting from Japan’s side.

During the meeting, a presentation and video were shown about the progress of the project. Further, funding, contracts, and execution issues were discussed for a mutually agreeable conclusion.

Government of India and Government of Japan Joint Committee is the highest consultative body for projects of mutual interest. Japanese government will fund MAHSR projects with a soft loan and technical and financial help.

The meeting was fruitful and productive and finalized strategic issues for early completion of the project.
