Dharmendra Pradhan on a three-day visit to Singapore to explore the connect, collaborate and cooperate in education and skill development

Union Minister for Education, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will proceed today to Singapore for a three-day visit to strengthen existing ties and explore the possibility of broadening the scope of bilateral engagement in the education and skills development.

During the visit, Shri Pradhan will meet with various key ministers of the Singapore government, including Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mr. Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan , Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong and Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing.

Shri Pradhan will also visit various educational institutions including Singapore Spectra Secondary School, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Institute of Technical Education and Educational Services (ITEES), Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD). He will also interact with Skills Future Singapore (SSG), the nodal agency under the Government of Singapore which leads the implementation of the SkillsFuture Movement.

During his visit, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will meet members of Indian Diaspora and Odia Association. The Minister will also interact with IIT and IIM Alumni in Singapore.

India and Singapore have a long-standing partnership in the field of skills development. One of the focus areas of the Education Working Group under our G20 presidency is the promotion of lifelong learning and the future of work. On 25 April 2023, a joint workshop on ‘The Future of Work: Skills Architecture and Governance Models of India and Singapore’ was organized on 25 April 2023 in the margins of the third meeting of the Education Working Group in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The deliberations held during the workshop will help build a roadmap for future skills collaboration between India and Singapore. .
