Rohini Hattangadi (born 11 April 1955), was an Indian actress, known for her work in Marathi-language and Hindi films, television and theatre.

Early Life
Rohini Hattangadi was born on 11 April 1955, in Pune, Mumbai, India. She went to school at Renuka Swaroop Memorial Girls’ High School.
In 1971 she joined Delhi’s National School of Drama (NSD). In 1974, she graduated with a Best All Around Student Award from NSD.
Career
Her career started on the Marathi stage. When Jayadev and Rohini were at NSD, they started a Marathi theatre group called Awishkar that produced over 150 plays. Her performance in Changuna, won her Best Actress Award at the Maharashtra State Drama Festival in 1975. The play was produced in Mumbai by Awishkar.
Her first roles were in films like Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai and Chakra. The 1982 film Gandhi biopic gave her international recognition. The movie won several awards, including several Oscars. In it, she played the role of Mahatma Gandhi‘s wife Kasturba Gandhi. She won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1983.
There were a lot of art films made in India in the 1980s. Rohini appeared in a lot of art films during this time, like Saaransh (1984), Aghaat (1985), and Anjuman (1986).
She got good reviews for her role in Rajkumar Hirani‘s directorial debut Munnabhai MBBS (2003), and then did the same in the Tamil version Vasool Raja MBBS (2004).
Her performance as Shubhhu Mavshi in Mumbai Pune Mumbai 3 (2018) was also appreciated.
In addition to theatre and films, Rohini has been in a lot of TV shows. Several of her Marathi serials have been popular, including ‘Char Divas Sasucheon’ and ‘Vahinisaheb’. Among Hindi serials, ‘Teacher’ and ‘Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroot Hai’ stand out.
The latest movie she’s in is ‘Vasantha Kalam,’ a Tamil thriller.
Award
In 1983, she won the BAFTA Awards for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Gandhi.
In 1984, she won the National film award for Best Supporting Actress for Party.
She also received 2 Film Fare awards for Best Supporting Actress for Arth and Agneepath.
In 2001, she was honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
